A Strong Leader

He is a 15–year–old boy who has been raised by a single mother. He has never met his father. His story came to the attention of GROW through the recommendation of others and has been known to us for the past three years. In the second year, we had the opportunity to meet and speak with his mother and visit the village where he lives. 

When we visited his home, we saw that his living conditions were very poor and unsafe. The house had no proper doors or windows, and smoke from cooking fires filled the air every day, making it difficult to breathe. He appeared physically weak and thin, with no secure place to sleep. His mother later remarried, but the new father figure in his life struggles with health issues and drug use. He used to be part of a high–risk environment where he was bullied and forced to obey harmful demands from older youths, simply because he was younger and more vulnerable. 

Because of these challenges, GROW prayed and with your support, was able to step in to help him have a safe place to live, have access to proper food, and learn about the love of God. Today, he is physically healthy and has become a true gentleman and a strong leader. He is a talented soccer player at his school and always lends a helping hand to the staff at the GROW Home. He is a quick learner with a sharp and intelligent mind. Please pray that he will continue to grow closer to Jesus Christ each day, so that he may live an abundant and meaningful life and become a role model for the younger children at the GROW Home.
