Part #1 The Source
Genesis 24: 42 – 44 (paraphrased)
Abraham’s servant went on the journey to seek a wife for Isaac. When he came to a spring he said, “O Lord, God of my master, Abraham, please give me success on this mission. See, I am standing here beside this spring. This is my request. When a young woman comes to draw water, I will say to her, “Please give me a drink of water from your jug.” If she says, “yes have a drink, and I will draw water for your camels, too,” let her be the one you chose to be Isaac’s wife.
Part #2 The Task
Every day decisions need to be made. Some seem rather frivolous, like what to serve for dinner or what outfit is best for the weather. However, there are decisions that are life changing. For example, from January to March GROW is busy investigating the cases of children that apply to GROW. These investigations are a process of events, such as visiting the child’s village, speaking to village leaders, meeting the child and advocate if there is one and follow up with surprise visits. Travels take Faa up dangerous mountain roads near the Myanmar border and as far as over eight hours south not far from Bangkok. These are the steps taken to help assess and confirm the child’s needs and their situation. The information gathered guides our selection. It helps us determine which children really need our help and would benefit from being placed at GROW. However, this process is never even initiated without seeking God’s wisdom, direction and protection.
Part #3 The Accomplishment
“Father you said in James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, you should ask of God, who gives generously to all …” We need wisdom as we look over the GROW applicants. We are but human and often our vision is clouded. But You are divine, You can look on the heart. (I Samuel 16:7) so we ask You Father to go before us and make our “mission successful” as You did for Isaac’s wife. (I Samuel 24:40) Make our path straight to the children You have selected for GROW (Proverbs 3:5-6). You are not a God of uncertainty, fear or indecision. You know the plans You have for each one of these children we meet, and they are good plans. (Jeremiah 29:11) So with our whole heart we will seek and trust in Your guidance to be faithful to give us Your strength, wisdom and power to do all that You have called us to do. (Philippians 4:13) We trust You to provide for these children’s needs whether at GROW or elsewhere (Philippians 4:19) because of Your great love on the cross. (John 3:16)
