Prayer Calendar - December

Each month we will learn more about the GROW mission and pray for the ministry in Thailand.   Don’t forget to set a reminder to return at the beginning each month for the learning and prayer opportunity.

December 22 Calendar

Recap 2022 and Looking Forward to 2023

Let’s take a moment to praise God for all He has done this year.

Graduations
In Thailand, children graduate at the 6th, 9th, and 12th-grade levels. After each graduation, decisions need
to be made about the next step in their education. We celebrated six children as they graduated in 2022.
Grade 6 = 2
Grade 9 = 1
Grade 12 = 2
Vocational Education 2-yr program = 1

Healing Families
We believe strongly in the family as God’s design. We are seeing beautiful things happen in the families represented at GROW. One of the desired outcomes is the reunification of each child’s family. Faa and her staff work tirelessly with the children and their families toward this goal. Working with the parents and grandparents is often more difficult than working with the children. We see God doing amazing restoration through many prayers, building relationships, and our parenting program!

In 2022, four boys were able to return home to their families. Through regular contact Faa has with them, she hears how God continues to work. One boy, who learned to play guitar at GROW, is now playing in his church with his father. His mother and father have returned to their marriage, restored their relationship with their son, and are serving in their church. Praise God! Celebrate with us what God has done!

New Children

GROW was able to rescue three more children in 2022. One of the girls who shared her story in 2021 had been praying for her younger sister to come to GROW. Watch Naamhom’s story here.  Earlier in the year, GROW created room for her in our already overcrowded girl’s home. She no longer has to worry about the safety of her little sister.

Staff
Two of our amazing staff retired this past summer. The Lord brought a lovely couple to fill our needs, along with a third person, a single woman to fill a much-needed position. Read more about them next month.

New Homes

In March, we began building half of the girl’s new home (cottage style). Regulations say our original girl’s home is overcrowded, but the government is allowing us to house them because we are in the process of building, and there is nowhere else for them to go. The rains and flooding delayed construction, and now supply chain issues have the furniture on backorder. Faa has been able to put the cottages to use as bed mats were placed on the floor to allow the few girls who contracted COVID to be quarantined.

Late rains continue to delay the start of the construction of our new boy’s home. Our new start date the goal is early this month (December).

Looking Ahead to 2023
Hopefully, by the end of 2022, the girls can spread out as soon as the furniture arrives, alleviating the overcrowding issue while allowing room for new girls. March and April are the months we can bring new children to the campus (read more about this in March). Faa is working now to identify and secure the legal paperwork to bring nine new children to the GROW campus.

Faa has secured land next to our property to allow for our agricultural program to continue. Much of the garden field space has been plowed to make room for the new homes. In the future (2024), we will have the opportunity to purchase additional land to meet our ever-growing needs.

We praise God for His faithfulness and provision this past year. We thank Him for His faithful followers who have partnered with us as we work to rescue these children, share the love and gospel of Jesus with them and their families, and provide them hope for their futures. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and all the precious children at GROW.
