A Mission for Education
In 2021 at age 88, a retired missionary/pastor who loved Faa and the children of GROW, decided to make supporting our college students’ education and praying for GROW his mission. That April he dedicated this 88th birthday to this mission, and GROW opened the Roseberry Educational Fund. In the last five years, he held two birthday parties to raise funds for GROW’s college students. He wrote hundreds of letters to friends and families sharing his passion and encouraging others to give to the fund. During his life, he helped to raise over $70,000. He recently was promoted to heaven at age 93. His last words to me (Jeana) were about making sure the education of the college students coming up this year would be taken care of.
Floyd was a huge encouragement to Faa and to me and was known as Grandpa Floyd. He often called me to get updates on how to pray, and he prayed daily for all of us. He was a huge example to me that no matter how old we are, God still has a purpose for our lives. So many people have been blessed because Floyd believed the same thing. When I think of Floyd, I think of these verses well lived in his life.
“The righteous person will flourish like the palm tree, He will grow like the cedar in Lebanon. Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courtyards of our God. They will still yield fruit in their old age: they will be full of sap and very green.“
