Contrasting Buddha with Jesus
Cries of a tormented soul. . .
“Buddha, there is nothing eternal with you. You, like, every man who existed, was given a limited life span. How can I trust a mere man? Your world view changed with your world’s boundaries. You were caught off guard by suffering and death. You went from a sheltered prince to a wandering ascetic and still found no understanding. In your frustration and dissatisfaction, you declared that a middle path or a balanced approach must be the way. But I must ask who sets the scale for a balance approach? And where does a balanced approach lead?
You decided that a balanced approach should be passion free yet chained by discipline (Eightfold Path). Buddha, you said that karma would set one free from rebirth cycles of death and life and help one reach Nirvana, a state where one exists as a stream of consciousness. So again, I must ask who decides how much good karma is required? How do I know I have pleased you, Buddha and for how long will it last? What is the measurement I am required to reach? How many rebirth cycles or changes must be endured?
Oh, how my soul is tormented by all the uncertainties. If this is reality then I am enslaved by fear with all the undetermined changes” This path leads only to constant death.”
Whispers of hope. . .
Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)-Chris Tomlin
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind, but now I see.
Twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed.
The Lord has promised good to me. His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, the sun forbid to shine.
But God who called me here below will be forever mine.
Chorus:
My chains are gone; I’ve been set free.
My God, my Savior has ransomed me.
And like a flood His mercy reigns,
unending love, amazing grace.
Praises of a soul set free. . .
“Oh God You alone are God eternal (Psalm 90:2). You existed before time began (Isaiah 40:28). And Your word tells us You are the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). You are unchanging. God, You know everything and are never caught off guard (1 John 3:20). You see into my heart and know all my thoughts, even my sins (Psalm 139:23-24). Yet, You love me with an everlasting love (Romans 8:38-39) and offered me grace (Ephesians 2:8-9). You knew I could never meet the requirement for Heaven, so You met it for me. You have promised me eternal life with you in Heaven (John 3:16 and (John 14:1-6). You alone, oh God, will keep every promise (Joshua 23:14).
Oh Lord, my chains have fallen off and I’ve been set free. I find my peace and rest in Your promises and unchanging love. You truly are the way, and the truth and the LIFE… (John 14:6). My future is with You and it will be glorious (Philippians 3:20 and 1 Peter 1:4),
