12 Months of Prayer – Seeds that GROW Hope
Each month, join us in prayer for the children, staff, and supporters of Grace Refuge Outreach Worldwide (GROW). Together, we plant seeds of hope that God grows into healing, joy, and new beginnings.
January – Starts with Rescue
Thank God for every child who has been brought to safety. His mercy reaches into the darkest places and brings light and freedom.
“He rescues and saves.” – Daniel 6:27
“You are not broken
There has never been a moment you were forgotten
You are not hopeless
Though you have been broken, your innocence stolen.
I hear you whisper underneath your breath
I hear your SOS, your SOS
I will send out an army to find you
In the middle of the darkest night
It’s true, I will rescue you.”

Puy, now 24, reflects on her decade at GROW with deep gratitude. “I am thankful to God for the help I received from GROW Home. It has given me a good education, good people around me, and a good relationship with God.”
Puy arrived at GROW when she was just 12 years old. Her village school ended after 6th grade, and she watched many of her classmates suddenly disappear—some forced into marriages with older men, becoming, in reality, their slaves. Puy loved learning and longed to continue her education. She desperately wanted to avoid the fate so many girls in her community were facing.
With her mother absent and her father working far from home, Puy often found herself alone—young, vulnerable, and without options. In a culture where forced marriages are common and educational pathways are limited, the fear of what might happen to her grew stronger. Her father, unable to protect her or provide a way forward, reached out to GROW for help. He knew education could give his daughter a future and reduce her vulnerability.
Once at GROW, Puy began to flourish. “I remember how impressed I was with her when I first met her,” shares Executive Director Jeana Harley. “She quickly became a leader among the other children and a tremendous help to our small staff. Her love for the Lord grew steadily. It was clear she genuinely cared for others and dreamed of becoming a teacher so she could help more children have the opportunity to learn.”
“I had the beautiful opportunity to watch this girl grow into the amazing young lady she is today,” Jeana adds. “Rescuing her from her desperate situation is something I will always be grateful for. I know God is going to do incredible things in and through her. I’m still excited to watch her story unfold. Praise God we were able to step in and help.”
Today, Puy assists in teaching pre-school at an international school in Chiang Mai where she uses her studies in Chinese to communicate to their many Chinese families. She speaks Thai, English, Chinese and her native tongue, Akha. She is actively involved in her Church and has a heart to share the Gospel with her people.
“I know who I am ‘cause I know who You are
The cross of salvation was only the start
Now I am chosen, free and forgiven
I have a future and it’s worth the living
‘Cause I wasn’t made to be tending a grave
I was called by name
Born and raised back to life again
I was made for more
So why would I make a bed in my shame
When a fountain of grace is running my way
I know I am Yours
And I was made for more,”
Made For More by Josh Balwin
The cross of salvation is only the start of God’s rescue plan. When we were dead in our sins, Christ died for us (Ephesians 2::1-3) “God rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins through His blood” (Colossians 1:13-14). God does not want anyone to perish (II Peter
2:9). He wants everyone to have a future in Him, a life worth living (Jeremiah 29:11). For many years GROW has been sharing God’s rescue plan. They have stepped into desperation to share the hope and love of Jesus with children who see no future. They then continue to service these children by offering them both a home and education. GROW- because these children were made for more.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your hand of protection over each rescued child. May many more find safety and freedom through Your grace.
