12 Months of Prayer – Seeds that GROW Hope

Each month, join us in prayer for the children, staff, and supporters of Grace Refuge Outreach Worldwide (GROW). Together, we plant seeds of hope that God grows into healing, joy, and new beginnings.

February – Healing Hearts

Many children come from places of deep pain and fear. God’s love is powerful to heal even the most broken hearts.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3

We first learned about this young boy through his preschool teacher, who was deeply concerned about his home situation. He was living in extreme instability. His father struggled with heavy alcohol and drug use, and even his grandparents were involved with drugs. After enduring years
of abuse, his mother finally fled for her own safety and has not returned.

Within Hill Tribe culture, if a child’s father or grandparents insist on keeping the child, the mother has no legal or cultural ability to take them. As a result, this little boy was left in a dangerously unsafe environment, with no responsible adults to care for him. At times, his father even mixed
methamphetamine into his food, exposing him to severe harm at a very young age.

He came to GROW Home in 2018. Even then, it was clear that his father’s health had been ravaged by years of substance abuse. Just three months after his son arrived at GROW, his father passed away at only 24 years old. During his first year at GROW, our team rushed him to the hospital almost weekly just to keep him alive. His body was severely malnourished and still suffering from the effects of prolonged drug exposure. Today, the transformation is remarkable. He is healthy, able to eat normal food, and growing stronger every day.

Outside of the GROW staff, this young man has very few adults involved in his life. During school breaks, when most children return home to visit family, he remains on campus – surrounded by staff who have become his family. In recent years, Faa was able to reconnect him with his grandmother, allowing him to finally visit a family member again.

Because of the consistent love, care, and protection he has received at GROW, healing has begun—both physically and emotionally. The journey has not been easy, BUT GOD is at work. He is restoring this young man’s body, and even more beautifully, He is healing his heart.

It doesn’t matter where you live or what your story is, you need a healer. When sin entered the world, disease, brokenness and death became mankind’s reality. From that day forward all were destined for destruction of every kind. However, God did not leave us hopeless, He sent us a healer- Jesus Christ. On the cross Jesus suffered and defeated sin and its effects. Isaiah 53:5-6 says, “But He was pierced through for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The chastening of our well-being fell upon Him. And by His scourging we are healed.” Through Jesus we can be healed. God has the power to heal not only the physical, but mentally and spiritually (I Peter 2:24).  In Christ, we are made whole (Luke 17:19). We are set free from sin and its effects (John 8:36).  In Christ health, joy and life is our future (Revelation 21:4) because His name is power.  His name is healing. His name is life.

I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
Over every heart and every mind

‘Cause I know there is peace within Your Presence
I speak Jesus
I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
‘Til every dark addiction starts to break
Declaring there is hope and there is freedom
I speak Jesus
‘Cause Your name is power
Your name is healing
Your name is life
Break every stronghold
Shine through the shadows Burn like a fire
I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
Over fear and all anxiety
To every soul held captive by depression
I speak Jesus
‘Cause Your name is power
Your name is healing
Your name is life . . . .

I Speak Jesus
